Online learning again at academy

S3 STUDENTS at Lockerbie Academy will be learning at home for the next three days due to staff shortages.

Covid continues to cause pressures at the town’s secondary school.

And things have got so bad this week that the S3 year have now been switched to online learning, until Friday.

Headteacher Brian Asher hopes to have everyone back in school on Monday.

In a letter to parents and carers, he said: “I realise this is difficult and want to assure you we have tried everything possible to avoid this. We discussed the situation with the authority and have used every means possible to keep everyone in school but we have no choice at this point to use this option now.”

It is the second time this academic year that some of Lockerbie’s younger students have switched to online learning.
