They are planning seven days of fun to coincide with Commonwealth Day on Monday, March 14.
It all starts at the Devil’s Porridge this morning, Saturday, with a tractor pull challenge. There will be cash prizes for the fastest man and woman over a set distance.
It takes place between 10 am and 12 noon, and again 2-3.30 pm.
Then tonight, Eastriggs Social Club hosts ‘Commonwealth Entertainment’ featuring Back2Back and a Status Quo tribute.
Prizes will be presented for the best Commonwealth Fancy Dress.
The popular Time Bandits return to the Devil’s Porridge on Sunday with their equipment from years gone by and visitors will have the chance to try their skills with a Gird ‘n Cleek.
It’s back to The Devil’s Porridge on Monday evening for a chance to meet the new curator Emma Gilliland as well as enjoying a taste of the Commonwealth.
The My-pod Youth Bus will be in the village early evening on Wednesday. Its arsenal of facilities include a large screen TV, large screen computer with internet access, music equipment, including DJ station, and a hair and make-up station.
The Wayside Inn will be the focus of attention on Friday, March 18, with a Quizaoke then karaoke.
And the week closes on Saturday March 19 with the first ever Eastriggs Commonwealth Historic Games at Melbourne Park in the afternoon. Entry is free with attractions including Circus Avago, Mini Commonwealth Games, a jester, hobby horse jousting and the Scottish Alternative Games.
