Mum gathers baby boxes for Ukraine appeal

HUNDREDS of baby boxes are being sent over to Ukraine to help families with young children who have been caught up in the escalating crisis in the country.

And Dumfries mum Jodie Carr has helped gather over 60 boxes locally after appealing for help.

Jodie asked people to donate items and she managed to make the boxes up before heading up north to deliver them to the lorry last Sunday.

Jodie said: “There was approximately 500 baby boxes and 300 boxes of other essentials in the lorry that went to the Romanian border.

“I would like to thank everyone who has donated so far. Everyone has been very generous.

“I think everyone feels a bit helpless at the moment so it’s nice to be able to do something to help.

“Also, a big thanks to Solway Removals and Bank Street Cobblers for organising the van.”

And Jodie is still on the hunt for more donations for the next batch of baby boxes to be sent over.

To donate contact Jodie Carr on Facebook.
