Time for tea
THE Buccleuch Centre in Langholm is hosting an After’Moon’ tea today to celebrate the 50th anniversary of astronaut Neil Armstrong’s visit to the town.
Neil Armstrong was the first human to walk on the moon and was granted the honour of Freedom of Langholm, making him the first Freeman of the town in recorded history.
SNP MSP Emma Harper has put the spotlight on the event by paying tribute to it in the Scottish Parliament.
In her motion to the parliament, Ms Harper recognised the efforts of Langholm resident, Grace Brown BEM, who was there on the day Armstrong visited in 1972, and all staff and volunteers at the Buccleuch Centre, who have organised the celebration.
