Police swoop on cannabis farm
A HAUL of cannabis plants was seized by police at a town centre property in Annan this week.
The discovery came after a search of an address off Downie’s Wynd on Tuesday.
Officers returned yesterday to remove the plants and associated growing equipment, including plant pots and heat reflective parasols, sealing off the street in the process for several hours.
Word soon spread around town about the find and many residents claimed to have noticed a pungent smell in the area. Writing on the Annandale Observer Facebook page, one reader described it as ‘awful’, while another said ‘the high street was stinking’.
Explaining more about the incident, a police spokeswoman yesterday said: “A number of cannabis plants were removed from the premises and police enquiries are ongoing.”
However, she was unable to provide an estimated street value of the cannabis “at this time”.
