Tao McCready founded and leads the Endo Borders group for anyone affected in the south of Scotland.
And she is keen to raise awareness in this region.
Tao said: “This group is for people affected by a lifelong condition called endometriosis.
“Endometriosis is a condition where cells like the ones in the lining of the womb are found elsewhere in the body. This can cause chronic pains, infertility, fatigue, bowel and bladder problems. Not forgetting their mental health that can also be affected.
“Around 1.5 million women in the UK are currently living with the condition. There is currently no cure. But with the right exercise and diet symptoms can be managed for some.
“We are an independent group. I support the local suffers here in the South of Scotland. I volunteer at this and for the last four years have dedicated my time to supporting the members.”
She is also part of the charity Endometriosis UK, as well as the patient representative for EXPPECT and works closely with the Scottish charity Endo Bonds, along with other endometriosis groups.
Tao added: “This is something close to my heart as I also have a severe form of the condition.”
