Willie in one man protest against Blair honour

A MILITARY veteran from the area travelled to Windsor Castle this week to demonstrate against the knighthood of Tony Blair.

Former PM Blair was set to be appointed into the oldest and most noble order of chivalry, the Order of the Garter, in an official ceremony on Monday.

And Ex Scots Guardsman Willie Findlay, right, from Eastriggs, travelled down to demonstrate outside the gates of the castle as each member of nobility entered the grounds, listing off the names of each soldier killed in the war that he believes Blair started.

Willie said: “I stood outside the castle for an hour, just next to St. Jordan’s Chapel. I used to guard this place, so I knew the best spot to be seen and heard.

“The Queen even passed by me as I was reading off the names of the men who died.

“I think that it’s absolutely disgusting that a man who pulled Scotland into a war without our permission is being knighted, and to the highest honour possible at that.

“It’s the equivalent of a naughty child being rewarded for doing bad things while the good children get nothing.

“I hope that sometime in the future, the royal family will take the honour away from him.”
