Bid for glamping pods

She has submitted a planning application to Dumfries and Galloway Council, which also includes the installation of a treatment plant and soakaway for disposal of waste water.
A small car parking area for four cars close to the entrance from Windsor Road is also included in the plans.
Council planning chiefs have recommended that the development be approved, with several conditions attached including the requirement for better access from the road.
The council report states: “The closest residential property would be 100 metres and more from the pods.
“The proposed septic tank/treatment plant would be located close to the pods in the north-eastern corner of the site.”
The small car parking area for four cars would be located just to the north-east of Windsor Lodge and close to the entrance from Windsor Road.
However, ten objections were submitted to the council from people living nearby in Newton Stewart.
They highlighted concerns about traffic and road safety, increased demand for parking where there is already a shortage, and noise pollution.
Cree Valley Community Council was consulted and responded that one parking space per pod is insufficient. Community council members would prefer two spaces per pod to avoid cars parking on Windsor Road.
The council roads officers said that amended plans would need to be submitted for better access to the site.
The application is due to go before the council’s planning committee next Wednesday.
