Bosses at the Lonsdale Cinema have reported that they have hosted groups of well-dressed teens gathered to watch a children’s film.
Based entirely on an online trend, the youngsters have arrived at the cinema sharply dressed and ready to watch ‘Minions: Rise of Gru’.
Originally devised by an Australian teen and his friends on the TikTok social app, the suited and booted joke turned into a widespread trend across the world.
Some picture houses in the UK have banned anyone attending in the ubiquitous purple suits or fancy dress, due to disruptive behaviour.
But Annan owner Alan Towers said the local teens were well mannered, adding: “We have had visits from groups of teenage boys in suits.
“Generally they have been well-behaved and respected other members of the audience.
“We do speak to them on the way into the cinema and ask them to consider other families, so we aren’t expecting any bother.
“In a small family-run cinema like ours that serves the community, we do not expect this to be a problem.”
