The Raydale outfit stormed into the game right from the off as striker Russell Currie went round the keeper but fired his left-footed effort over the bar.
Shortly after Ben Spelman opened the scoring for Gretna after pouncing on a Berwick defenders sloppy back pass.
The Wee Gers then sustained a period of pressure before Gretna doubled their lead.
Currie beat his man to deliver a precise cross to where Mikey Mbewe was at the back post and he fired the ball into the net.
Berwick made a double substitution at half time to try and spark a reaction with substitute winger Lewis Baker looking dangerous. Spelman was unable to run off a knock that he sustained and had to be replaced.
Baker eventually pulled one back for the hosts when he slotted home. The home side then got the equaliser through Lewis Allen.
Gretna then sprung into action to try and restore their lead but they could not find an opening.
Allen then got his brace later on in the game to put Berwick in front and complete the comeback.
Gretna had some more chances but failed to get the equaliser that they deserved.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday evening Gretna FC 2008 took on a Carlisle United XI in a friendly.
It was an entertaining game with Gretna pushing their Cumbrian counterparts all game.
Carlisle won by the single goal with Fulham loanee Sonny Hilton curling in a brilliant shot from 25 yards.
Gretna also confirmed another two additions to their squad with the signings of Matthew Johnstone and striker Ben Spelman who has a vast Lowland League experience.
Then on Wednesday, August 10 Gretna play Dunbar United in the East of Scotland Qualifying Cup.
