Auction firms announce merger

TWO long-established family auction firms have amalgamated.

Sybelle Thomson, of Thomson Roddick, and Michael Callan, of Thomas R Callan of Ayr, are delighted to announce the formation of a new auction company, Thomson Roddick Callan Ltd, with over 240 years of combined expertise.

It will focus on Ayr, the Ayrshire coast and the West of Scotland and Glasgow area, with salerooms in Ayr, Dumfries, Edinburgh and Carlisle, ten experts and a strong team of experienced auctioneers.

Managing director Sybelle, pictured above centre, said: “This is a wonderful opportunity for both companies and we look forward to strengthening our expertise and building on the reputation of both firms to provide an exceptional service to our present and future clients.”

She said they will continue to hold traditional auctions with interiors sales held on alternate Tuesdays in Dumfries and Carlisle and on Thursdays in Ayr and Edinburgh. These will be interspersed with periodic high quality fine art and antique sales and specialist auctions of antiquarian books and collectors’ effects ranging from toys and textiles through medals, militaria and coins to whisky and wines, vintage vinyl and music and much more.

Thomson Roddick Callan may be contacted at [email protected].
