Books of condolences locally

BOOKS of condolences are to be opened locally, Dumfries and Galloway Council have tonight announced.

They will be placed in council run sites across the area.

In addition, floral tributes can be laid at war wemorials which have been designated as Gardens of Remembrance .

As a mark of respect, flags will fly at half-mast on all council buildings and flagpoles as appropriate.

The Convener and Deputy Convener of Dumfries and Galloway Council, Councillor Stephen Thompson and Councillor Linda Dorward, have expressed their deepest sympathies to The Royal Family. They said:

“On behalf of Dumfries and Galloway Council and all the communities across our region, we join the nation in mourning for Her Majesty The Queen. We extend our heartfelt sympathies to all members of The Royal Family and honour her long service and duty to her country as Queen.”

Meanwhile, Waterbeck Church has announced a special service in memory of Her Majesty on Sunday morning at 10.30 am, led by Bishop James Goldie.
