Mental health support for bosses

A NEW online mental health and wellbeing platform has been set up to assist employers who are interested in ways to best support their staff.

The online platform, www.healthyworkinglives.scot/mentalhealth, provides a single point of access to signpost employers to relevant, reputable and free sources of support. As well as links to guidance and training to help employers support mental wellbeing at work, there are a range of case studies that showcase existing promising practice in organisations across Scotland.

The platform has been developed in collaboration with a wide range of partners, including employer organisations, Trade Unions, Public Health Scotland and mental health charities, and will be hosted on Public Health Scotland’s Healthy Working Lives website.

The development has been welcomed by South Scotland SNP MSP Emma Harper, co-convenor of the Mental Health Cross Party Group, who said: “Mental health issues are wide ranging and good mental health is important, not least to have a productive workforce but for individuals’ overall health and wellbeing.

“Moreover, I encourage employers to take a look at the site and familiarise themselves with the case studies which they may find to be similar to situations they are coping with in their business or organisation, and best support their staff in this way.”
