Around 130 visitors travelled from Dumfries and Galloway and beyond to the the yard on Monday where they were able to meet Iain and his staff and also the horses.
Those in attendance were treated to watching horses work on tthe gallops ridden by their regular work riders and jockeys, including National Hunt jockey Conor O’Farrell and a parade featuring some magnificent horses. .
Valerie Renwick, from Iain Jardine Racing, said: “Trainers up and down the country were holding open days as part of National Race Horse Week by invitation from Great British Racing.
“It was a great opportunity to open the doors to the public so that they could see behind the scenes.
“Few people actually get the chance to meet horses in their home environment and see the work that goes in.
“We had a lot of good feedback from those who attended, noting how polite, friendly and knowledgeable the staff are. There is maybe a misconception that horse racing is only for people with money and that is not the case, horse racing is a sport for everybody.
“We have not done an open day like this before and it is something that we would consider doing again in the future.”
Visitors got to meet some younger horses who had not yet raced and take a note of their name for the future. There was also the opportunity to buy shares in ownership syndicates.
Scottish Grand National 2021 fifth place runner, Cool Mix – Owned by Donna and Dave Armstrong – was the star of the show on the day.
