PROCLAIMER. . . Jen is cycling 500 miles, and then 500 more for her family

A WOMAN from Dumfries has been cycling 500 miles and then 500 more to raise money for Crohn’s disease.

Jen Leggate Swan lives in Dumfries and works as a teacher at Newington Primary School in Annan.

She begun her challenge on July 2 and has been aiming to complete it before the end of November, and is hoping to raise £1000.

£500 would go to Crohn’s and Colitis UK, and the other half would go to Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity (GCHC).

Jen said: “Crohn’s Colitis UK is close to my heart as my daughter Sophie has been living with this disease for 12 years and has been through some very challenging times.

“So for the very determined and successful young lady who she has become donating would help research to find a cure.

“Alongside this, it has been one year since my niece Chloe got home from the Glasgow Children’s Hospital following treatment for leukaemia and the whole family were together again.

“The hospital continue to look after Chloe at the Schiehallion ward and they have been amazing so Chloe suggested that my fundraising should be for them.

“I have been pedalling my heart out and within sight of my 1000 miles.”

Of the two justgiving fundraisers Jen has made, she has raised £663 of her £1000 goal.
