Jess Liddon will compete in the 10m air pistol women, 25m pistol women and the 25m standard pistol women events in the ISSF competition, which is hosted in Cairo from October 12-15.
Jess will also be involved in three mixed teams event where she will partner up with James Miller in the 10m air pistol section. She will also join up with Sam Gowin for the 25m rapid fire pistol event and the 25m standard pistol competition.
The championships will take place in the newly built range complex in the Egypt International Olympic City, just eight months after it hosted a World Cup earlier this year.
An ecstatic Jess said: “I am delighted to have been selected to join the strong team heading out to Cairo.
“With three individual events and three team events to compete in, I am expecting a demanding programme but I look forward to the opportunity.
“I would like to say a huge thank you to my family for their unwavering support.
“I would not be able to continue in the sport if it wasn’t for the great support network I have behind me.”
Jess is just back from the European Championships, held at Wroclaw, Poland. She competed in the sport pistol, standard pistol and rapid fire mixed team sections.
Speaking of her performances at the Euros, Jess said: “The event was a success, my performance in sport pistol was above my average for the year despite a couple of expensive mistakes.
“Finishing up only ten points away from progressing to the final fills me with confidence for the rest of the Paris 2024 qualification period.
“Competing in the Rapid Fire Mixed Team Event was great fun. Adding the team element is a great change to an otherwise individual sport.
“Finishing in sixth place was beyond our expectations so we came away very happy.”
She thanked her supporters and said: “A key person in my support network is Michael Jones – the man who first got me to pick up a pistol and initially told an eight-year-old me ‘line up the sights and pull the trigger’, which is still what’s required of me 20 years later as I prepare for the World Championships.
