Energy developers meet local businesses
BUSINESS 2 BUSINESS. . . Vattenfall's Project Manager Matthew Bacon and Regional Liaison Officer Carol Kane at the event in Crichton last week

DUMFRIES and Galloway Chamber of Commerce’s Business Exhibition took place last week in Crichton.

Energy developer Vattenfall, responsible for building the South Kyle Wind farm, attended the event to mingle with local businesses.

Project Manager Matthew Bacon and Regional Liaison Officer Carol Kane were on hand at the event to encourage more Dumfries and Galloway-based businesses to supply the renewables sector.

Independent research has shown that Vattenfall has generated £44 million due to their local approach to building the wind farm, and pipeline projects such as Quantans Hill Wind Farm offers a potential £7 million boost to the economy on top of that.

Vattenfall’s Matthew Bacon said: “Thank you to everyone who came along to speak to us at our stand, and to the Dumfries and Galloway Chamber of Commerce for organising the exhibition.

“Vattenfall’s local approach at South Kyle Wind Farm has demonstrated what can be achieved when a developer focuses on maximising opportunities for local businesses, and we are determined to build on that with our future projects.

“Participating in events like todays exhibition is great way for us to meet more local companies, and hear what they’d like to see from onshore wind farm projects in their area.”
