Windfarm work begins
BENBRACK BUILDERS. . . Jonathan Maitland, Project Manager and Michaela Baldock, Site Engineer from Jones Bros with Gillies Munro, Development Engineer from Red Rock Power on site.

CONSTRUCTION of an onshore wind farm between Dalmellington and Carsphairn has commenced.

Set to conclude in spring 2024, the Benbrack Onshore Wind Farm is the first generation of the 67MW capacity project developed by Red Rock Power.

Local firm Natural Power will oversee activity on the project as construction management provider, Jones Bros have been contracted for the balance of pant elements of the wind farm, and the turbine contractor Vestas will mobilise to the site in early 2024.

The project has now secured final approval from Dumfries and Galloway Council.

Locals can expect regular updates via community councils or the project’s website and are encouraged to share feedback throughout the two-year build.

Benbrack is the first construction project under Red Rock Power management, marking a momentous step forward for the business as it continues to grow its wind portfolio and cement its position in the Scottish industry.

Project director Jamie Grant said: “We’ve been driving towards the start of construction since we acquired Benbrack early last year, so we’re excited to get started and be a step closer to generating clean energy.

“We’ll be working closely with our key contractors to deliver the wind farm quickly and with minimum disruption to the local area.”
