Region on flood alert

A FLOOD alert has this afternoon been issued for Dumfries and Galloway for tonight and tomorrow.

It comes after periods of persistent and heavy rain today, which will continue overnight and into Tuesday.

As a result, there are fears of flooding from rivers and surface water too.

Highlighted as ‘particularly at risk’ are urban areas and the transport network, as well as low lying roads and land and isolated properties.

Difficult driving conditions are also forecast locally.

Coastal flooding could occur along the Solway coast too, with the greatest risk at high water tonight, about 11 pm at Garlieston.

More information and advice can be found via the Floodline 0n 0345 9881188.
