The Black and Golds were triumphant at Forthbank courtesy of second half goals from Tommy Goss and substitute Chris Johnston.
The icing was put on the cake as Athletic secured their first clean sheet since the middle of July in the Premier Sports Cup.
Manager Peter Murphy said: “I was delighted with the performance on Saturday, I have also been happy with the performances in the last few weeks going back to Dumbarton.
“Now our strikers are scoring and we need to keep spreading the goals around.
“It is our first clean sheet of the season, not a lot of teams have clean sheets in the league.
“Conceding fewer goals and getting a clean sheet, that was the aim for the quarter and long may that continue.”
This Saturday, a re-energised and re-inspired Annan welcome fourth place Elgin City to Galabank. And the squad will be looking to make amends for the heavy defeat suffered at Borough Briggs last month.
Murphy said: “We are under no illusions that Kane Hester (Elgin’s striker) is flying at the moment. Again we will take a 1-0 win.”
Another encouraging sign for fans will be the presence of nine players on the bench against Stirling, and with substitutes Steven Swinglehurst and Chris Johnston linking up for for the second goal, the whole squad fit and firing it definitely makes a difference.
Murphy added: “Everyone is back which is good, we did have a period where four or five key players were out.
“We arranged an 11 v 11 on Tuesday against Lochar Thistle for players to get fitness.
“It gives me plenty of headaches to deal with.”
