THE restoration of the fountain on Dumfries High Street has entered its second phase.

Historic fountain on the move

The fountain was dismantled on Wednesday to be taken to restorers at Lost Art where it will be given a new lease of life.

The physical restoration work, which involves specialist dismantling, restoration of the fountain, redesign of the pumping and water treatment system to ensure it meets current standards.

It is hoped that the fully restored fountain will be reinstalled and unveiled in the spring.
