Caring mum and daughter are ‘shining examples’

A LOCKERBIE mother and daughter have been recognised for their long service working with children in care.

Marion and Jaimie Foley have both been honoured with 20 year awards from Care Visions.

And they were described as “really shining examples of dedication, child-focused individuals that let children who are in care reach their potential in a safe caring environment.”

During her two decades with the organisation, Marion worked in the North East of Scotland to support young people there but is now based back in Dumfries and Galloway, at Quhytewoollen House, Lockerbie, where she is residential services manager.

Jamie, meanwhile, is a residential childcare worker at Care Vision’s High Kilroy site near Dumfries.

The pair were presented with their awards at a glitzy event in Larkhall.

Marion said afterwards: “What can I say, after 21 years with Care Visions, what a fantastic journey, that I wouldn’t change for the world. I’ve gone through very difficult challenges, but I must say the good times have outweighed these, by a long shot.

“I’ve watched many of our young people grow from young children, to well rounded young adults.

“I still feel very humble with the role I’ve accomplished and hold, but I have Care Visions support and the care teams to thanks for this- not forgetting the young people, which has been a huge bonus to care for.”

Congratulating all the award recipients, Care Visions CEO Sharon Boniface said: “ In a sector where relationships are at the core of what we do, not only with the young people we support, but within our teams and with one another, to have such committed individuals to their roles and the organisation is something we very much value.”
