Redevelopment of church begins

ST ANDREW’S Church in Moffat has closed temporarily until the summer for redevelopment work.

The historic building has been mainly used for worship on a Sunday and as venue for community groups but recently it has hosted numerous very successful concerts.

Now the church is being modernised to make the building more accessible, comfortable, flexible, environmentally friendly and available for community multi-use.

The overall cost of the work is estimated at £698,000 and includes the installation of a new eco heating system; the creation of a level floor and new seating for better accessibility and flexibility; upgraded insulation; new accessible toilets and updated audio visual equipment.

Until the work is complete Sunday Worship will take place at Kirkpatrick Juxta Parish Church in Beattock each Sunday at 10 am.

The church hall will also be unavailable for use, leaders of groups and organisations will be able to inform you about their temporary arrangements.

For more information contact session clerk, Donald Walker on 01683 220707 or speak to Reverend Elsie Macrae.
