And now manager Peter Murphy wants to see his players maintain their ruthless streak in front of goal once more this weekend when East Fife come calling.
The Black and Golds currently occupy fourth spot in what is proving to be a topsy turvy bottom tier this season with only seven points separating Annan from bottom.
Murphy said: “This league is really strange this year because everybody is beating everybody.
“If Bonnyrigg had won they would have been off the bottom. We were on the bottom a few weeks ago and have gone on a little bit of a run.
“That’s all this league takes, a run to keep you going and keep you up there with the points.
“East Fife lost to Stranraer so they’ll be coming here wanting to show what they can do. They beat us here earlier on in the season so we’ve got to be aware of them.
“After we beat Albion 5-1 in the next game we thought we had to score straight away and we were going at 100mph trying to rush things.
“So we’ve just got to make sure we do the basics right and that will give us the opportunity to score one or two.”
Goals from Aidan Smith, Max Kilsby and a brace from Tommy Goss rounded off a dominant display for Annan at Galabank against The Rose. In the week before, the gaffer had called for his side to be more clinical in front of goal.
Murphy added: “Today we were (ruthless). Four goals, I can’t argue with that. I’m delighted with a 4-0 win, but I’m really frustrated with the last few weeks. We’ve been creating a lot more chances and we haven’t taken them.
“It is what it is and we just need to keep pushing ourselves on.
“If we score one then the confidence builds and we will then score a lot more. Today we did that.
“We just need to try and keep that up. The confidence is building.”
Another two goals for Goss ties him at the top of the League Two scoring charts alongside Elgin’s Kane Hester with a return of 15 so far for the season. Meanwhile, Smith’s strike places the 25-year-old level with Peter Weatherson as Annan’s all time top SPFL goalscorer with 55 goals.
Murphy said: “I’m delighted that Tommy scored another couple of goals today and Aidan Smith has now equalled Spoonsy’s (Peter Weatherson) record for Annan in the SPFL. He’ll hopefully score plenty more.
“I’m delighted for him, the work he does for the team, you can ask him to play anywhere and he’ll give you everything. He was rightfully man of the match.
“In the first half he should have had one as well.
“Tommy got injured on Thursday night. He was a doubt for the game, but he was desparate to play.
“He’ll probably have wanted his hat-trick. But I want him for another five, six, seven, eight weeks.
“He wasn’t happy about coming off, but that’s great I think when a player wants to be on the pitch. I can’t argue with that. I understand it.”
