CHAMPION. . . Danielle Wilson will be attending with her Whippet Luna

CRUFTS is returning this weekend for its 2023 show, and members of the longest-running ringcraft club in South West Scotland will be attending.

The Carliol Ringcraft Society was established in 1983 and is now located at Currock House Community Centre in Carlisle.

Several members of the club are attending the 2023 event, some for the first time and others as they have done for years.

Some particularly promising members of the club who will be travelling to Birmingham include 14-year-old Danielle Wilson from Gretna, below, who previously won the Scottish Kennel Club Junior Handlers Competition in Glasgow and will be attending with her whippet Luna.

NEWCOMER. . . Joanne McFarlane will be attending with her Newfoundland Twister

Joanne McFarlane, above, is from Dumfries and will be attending Crufts for the first time this year with her young Newfoundland Twister. Joanne will be accompanied by her mother Sue.

Society secretary Jane Power said: “The committee and officers of Carliol Ringcraft Society are very proud of all their members, and would like to take this opportunity to wish them all the very best.”

It will be extra special for Carliol as 2023 is their 40th anniversary, with several events already planned throughout the year to celebrate the milestone.

Over 24,000 different breeds of dogs will be travelling to the NEC in Birmingham for a long weekend of celebrating dogs of all shapes and sizes from March 9 to 12.
