£1.1m of support earmarked

OVER £1 million of support is heading for schemes that support elderly and vulnerable people in the region.

Councillors will be asked, at the next full council meeting, to transfer just over £1.1 million to Dumfries and Galloway Joint Integration Board (IJB) to support several initiatives.

It will then go to:

£948,000 to support the delivery of the Care and Repair service.

£149,000 to fund the Small Repairs and Home Support service.

£15,000 to fund the Dementia Friendly Design project.

£37,400 to fund Food Train at Home.

Convenor Cllr Malcolm Johnstone hopes it will be agreed and said: “This funding would ensure the projects’ ability to provide essential services to the elderly and vulnerable people living in our region, building stronger and more resilient communities in the future while ensuring the most vulnerable members of our community receive the support they need to thrive.”

Decisions will be made on March 30.
