DUMFRIES and Galloway Horse Show celebrates its 51st year this year with a new venue.
It will take place at Stewartry Rugby Club in Castle Douglas on Saturday May 20 with a wide range of showing and jumping classes for all.
The organisers are also delighted to announce they will also be hosting the qualifiers for the new BSPS and BSHA showing classes to be held at the London International Horse Show in December.
Spokesman David Stewart said: “We are one of only four shows in Scotland to be lucky enough to hold these classes and indeed the only show north of the border to have hunter classes.
“We know the equestrian community will be delighted at the opportunity to compete in these events. The LIHS is held at the Excel in London and hosts championship showing classes as well as Grand Prix dressage, showjumping, not to mention a Shetland pony grand national and dog show.
“We are eternally grateful to LIHS for their support, without which local level showing would not be the same. A total of 45 shows across the UK are holding qualifiers with an expected combined audience in excess of half a million people.
“These new classes are in addition to NPS qualifiers for the NPS championships at Malvern, NPS and VHS classes at Land Rover Blair Castle International horse trials and many unaffiliated classes.
“There really will be something for everyone, right on your doorstep in Dumfries and Galloway.”
The show schedule will be posted on their Facebook page in due course.
