Inspection joy for care home

A DUMFRIES care home is celebrating after receiving a positive report from the Care Inspectorate following an unannounced inspection.

Lochduhar Care Home received a very good rating against two key questions and a good rating for the remaining four key questions.

The report stated: “Staff interactions with people experiencing care were warm, gentle and encouraging.

“The home had a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. Relatives we spoke with confirmed this had informed their decision making when choosing a home for their loved ones.”

Inspectors also observed skilled activity staff carrying out events that people enjoyed. Relationships between people experiencing care were developed because of well provided activities.

They also observed staff taking time to talk with people, and staff deployment took account of the need for staff presence in communal areas.

The report continued: “This supported people’s safety needs, helped to ensure that any needs were anticipated and appropriately responded to, and supported conversation and interaction.”

In celebration of the rating and to thank each member of the team for their contributions to the home, each team member was presented with £100 gift voucher in appreciation of their hard work.

Gillian Ward, general manager at Lochduhar, said: “We are delighted that Lochduhar received such a positive inspection report following the Care Inspectorate’s most recent inspection.

“The team at Lochduhar always strive to provide the best possible quality care for everyone who lives at the home and I am so proud of everything they have achieved. Our inspection report reflects their tireless hard work, commitment and passion.”
