They were alerted after he was seen taking photographs of vehicles in the Gullane Drive area of the new Summerpark housing development between 10 am and 10.30 am on three consecutive days last week.
The man is described as being 20/30 years of age with blonde/ash coloured hair and of thin build. He was wearing a yellow open tabard with jeans and work boots.
Constable Caroline Carson, of Police Scotland, wants to hear from anyone who may be able to identify him. She said: “The public should be vigilant in relation to the security of their vehicles and ensure that they are locked at all times, with windows fully closed and any items of value either removed or placed out of sight. We are unsure as to the motive behind this man’s actions at this time and would be keen to hear his explanation should he wish to come forward.”
