A PUBLIC art trail featuring a collection of colourful sheep sculptures will visit Dumfries and Galloway in May
The ‘Flock to the Show’ installation features over 35 specially designed sheep, decorated by artists from across the UK.
It has been designed to engage visitors of all ages, as well as raise awareness of different causes related to farming, including regenerative agriculture, rural isolation and climate change.
An initiative of The Royal Highland & Agricultural Society of Scotland (RHASS), the campaign celebrates the return of the Golden Shears World Sheep Shearing and Wool-handling Championships to the Royal Highland Show in June.
The tour will stop off in this region between May 2-14 with destinations including Gretna Green and the SRUC Barony campus.
Following the tour, the flock shall return to the Royal Highland Show and will then be auctioned at a gala dinner in September to raise funds that will support the RHASS’s Bicentennial Fund, which supports projects dedicated to sustainability in the rural sector.
Show chairman Jim Warnock said: “We are very much looking forward to seeing our flock out and about across Scotland. We hope that everyone will get involved and pay a visit to our flock when they arrive in your region.”
Meanwhile, as part of the campaign, there will be four opportunities to win a VIP Royal Highland Show experience for all the family.
