£9.5m estate goes on market

A ‘FINE’ estate comprising 1630 acres and including a Queen Anne manor house, farmland, woodlands and a Barony title is on the market for £9.5 million.

The Logan Estate near Stranraer centres around a nine-bed, nine-bathroom house with woodland gardens and views of Northern Ireland and the Machars peninsula.

It includes a well established pheasant and partridge shoot, 1158 acres of managed farmland, 270 acres of mixed woodlands and plantations and harbour, foreshore and salmon netting rights

Agents Savills describe it as “one of the finest residential, agricultural, and sporting estates in the south of Scotland”.

It was owned by the McDouall family for 700 years until its sale to the current owners in 2002.

At its heart, Logan House dates from 1702 and is rich in intricate period features with a garden boasting a variety of exotic plants.

There are a further six residential properties on the estate, including Logan Mains farmhouse and a clutch of cottages.

FRESHWATER . . . the Logan fish pond

Commercial properties include Logan Fish Pond and two scenic picnic areas and the estate also includes Port Logan Bay together with the pier and lighthouse along with more than two miles of craggy coastline and sandy beaches.

Evelyn Channing, from Savills, said: “It’s a rare opportunity for a new owner to acquire a glorious example of Queen Anne architecture, a very fine shoot, easily managed farming, forestry and residential concerns, and even an aristocratic title.”
