Public consultation on Faw Side change

A SECOND public consultation is taking place for the overhead line grid connection for Faw Side Community Windfarm.

It is due to a change of overhead line route.

Community Wind Power are proposing two 4.4 km long, 132kV, twin wood pole overhead lines and one steel lattice tower as well as a substation compound at Faw Side Community Windfarm.

Members of the public, landowners and other interested parties are invited to take part in the consultation for the proposed connection between the windfarm and the existing steel tower line which runs parallel with the A7, making a connection to the existing network in the vicinity of Teviothead.

The project team are now consulting on the preferred route alignment, which has been amended since the original consultation on this project.

The consultation will start on June 12 and close on July 12 at 5 pm.

SP Transmission, the transmission license holder, is a subsidiary of SP Networks responsible for the transmission of electricity in central and southern Scotland. SP Transmission has received a grid connection application from Community Wind Power via National Grid and is required under the Electricity Act 1989 to seek a connection to the grid network.

The consultation material will be based online at the SP Energy Networks website at www.spenergynetworks.co.uk/pages/faw_side_community_wind_farm_grid_connection.aspx

And comments can be emailed to [email protected], or posted to:

Faw Side Overhead Line Project, SP Energy Networks, 55 Fullarton Drive, Glasgow, G32 8FA.

Meanwhile, hard copies of the routeing and consultation document will be available Langholm CSC Town Hall and Hawick Library and can be provided on request.
