Serious crash on Dumfries bypass

A 25-year-old man is in a ‘serious but stable’ condition in hospital in Glasgow after a crash on the A75 at Dumfries on Monday morning.

He was the driver of a blue Mazda 2 which was in collision with a JCB towing a trailer at about 10.40 am between the Dalscone roundabout and the Lockerbie Road roundabout.

Emergency services attended and the 25-year-old man was airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. The JCB was being driven by a 64-year-old man, but he did not require medical treatment.

Police are describing it as a ‘serious crash’ and officers have appealed for witnesses.

Constable Stuart Delaney, of the road policing unit at Lockerbie, said: “Our enquiries in the circumstances surrounding this crash are continuing.

“I would appeal to any witnesses, or anyone with information or dashcam footage that may assist our investigation to contact 101 with reference number 1082 of 5 June.”
