EASTRIGGS Community Group are celebrating after their fundraising allowed them to install two defibrillators around the town.
The group were able to successfully raise £2722 which allowed them to place a defibrillator outside of the Wayside Inn and another outside of Eastriggs Social Club.
Overall, £500 was granted from Dumfries and Galloway Council’s discretionary fund; £528 and £388 were raised at the group’s Super Saturday and tombola; the Easter Draw made £239; there was a £250 donation from the Chapelcross Snowball Fund, as well as £100 from Annandale North Councillor Richard Brodie; and £476 was collected in donation buckets.
A big thank you goes to Steve Jack, who raised a total of £240 through a gruelling 100-mile wheelchair push that he completed within a month.
Eastriggs Community Group secretary Isabelle Clark said: “The community group offers a huge thanks to all the funders, donors and community members for making the campaign a success.
“Special thanks goes to the Wayside Inn and Eastriggs Social Club for hosting the defibrillators, their donations and support.
“The defibrillators will be available 24/7 for any to access, all you need to do is dial 999 for the emergency code.
“Further fundraising continues for a third defibrillator to be installed at The Green. Collection boxes are available at the Green Cafe, Convenience Store, Eastriggs Club, Ryjos and the Wayside Inn.”
Ian Mundell, of Eastriggs Social Club, added: “Eastriggs Social Club is delighted to be involved in this community project, the defibrillators are now in place throughout the village.
“The club would like to thank all fundraisers, supporters and volunteers for making this vital purchase possible.”
