Station Park pond fun put on hold

REPAIRS are being carried out to a popular boating pond in Moffat.

The facility in Station Park has not been retaining water so far this season and, as a result, the new boats have been getting stuck.

So, Dumfries and Galloway Council, who manage the pond, have been investigating.

A spokesperson for the local authority yesterday said: “We have been experiencing problems with the boating pond this year.

“Council staff are carrying out repairs and hope to have the pond re-opened soon.”

It was emptied at the weekend and work started, which meant there were no boats on Saturday and both the boats and putting were cancelled on Sunday’s sunny day.

The spokesperson added: “This really couldn’t have come at a worse time with the addition of the new boats, which have been very popular, and also the great weather – but it is unavoidable.

“Hopefully if we can get it fixed we can ensure that there are no problems for the rest of the summer.”
