Property prices rise in region

HOUSE prices in Dumfries and Galloway saw a 2.6 per cent monthly increase in April.

The new information from Walker Fraser Steele shows that prices were also up 0.8 per cent on April 2022.

And the average house price in the region now is £184,948.

Scott Jack from the firm said: “Scotland’s housing market continues to surprise with strong demand for higher value homes leading average prices to rise by £1600, or 0.7 per cent in April. It’s the largest increase since May of last year, with the result that Scotland’s average house price now stands at £221,267 – £3300, or 1.5 per cent, higher than 12 months earlier.

“People continue to buy and the lack of the right kind of housing means prices are being sustained by a lack of supply that has more impact on prices than the current affordability challenges.”
