AS the Official Fresh Food Partner of the 2023 Cycling World Championships in August, Lidl is celebrating the ‘One Month to Go’ milestone by installing a free bike servicing surgery in the car park of its Brooms Road store in Dumfries, from 12 pm – 4 pm on Thursday July 6.

Customers can find a dedicated marquee, where they will receive a bike safety check-up from fully qualified mechanics. This will include necessary basic fixes and maintenance advice.

A and E repairs will include replacing worn brake pads, brake and gear cables, as well as tightening headsets and adjusting gears. For anything more serious, customers will be given a ‘Dr’s Note’ listing what’s needed to get their bike running smoothly again.

Lidl’s middle aisle will also be stocked with bargains for keen cyclists to saddle up with.

The retailer is looking to help customers get their bikes roadworthy ahead of the UCI World Championships which come to Dumfries between August 9-12.

Ross Millar, Lidl’s regional director for Scotland, said: “The countdown is on for this year’s 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships, and we want to support our customers to get themselves and their bikes ‘race ready’.

“There’s no reason why anyone in Dumfries with a bike of their own shouldn’t be able to feel like a champion this summer and a free bike surgery is one way to help them do just that – as Official ‘Fresh Food Partners’ we are proud to deliver this at their convenience alongside their normal weekly shop!”
