Gardeners get out and about on floral trail

EIGHTEEN of Moffat’s finest gardens will be open to the public this weekend as part of the fourth annual Moffat Garden Trail.

Organisers are inviting keen gardeners to spend an afternoon viewing private gardens this Sunday.

Last year funds were raised for the Moffat Town Hall Trust and Marie Curie, and this year all funds raised by the event will again go to the Town Hall Trust but also Moffat First Responders.

A previously unheard of 18 gardens will be open and the Town Hall Trust will be hosting cream teas after the viewings.

Tina Fox, one of the trail’s organisers, is also secretary for the new Moffat Art Collective.

Fellow organiser Rosemary Thomson said: “We are delighted to be able to launch our new group at the this great annual event and hopefully help to increase the funds raised.

“We were blessed with sun last year but I don’t think it would matter what the weather was, gardeners are just keen to see a range of gardens and share tips with one another.”

Gardens open from 12 pm to 5 pm this Sunday. Tickets are available from Present Time, Moffat Bookshop and the Garden Centre.
