Parent power behind new playpark group WHEELS are being set in motion for a flagship playpark in Annan following the creation of a new committee. The Annan Play Parks Steering Group (APPS) was set up after a well attended public meeting last Wednesday night called by mums Louise Ross and Wendy Hamilton. It will be a sub committee of the Annan Regeneration Steering Group and will be chaired by Councillor Ronnie Ogilvie. Their first official meeting will take place next month and in the new term they will be asking local schools to help design a logo. Mr Ogilvie said: The APPS will be exploring every opportunity to identify a location, funding streams and equipment needed to take this project forward. Things wont happen overnight, but with the right energy and commitment shown by all involved we should make reasonable progress within the next year. We are committed to keeping the wider community informed as we go forward, can I personally thank all who have given their support to date. Councillor Sean Marshall, who is also on the committee and chairs the Annan Regeneration group, added: Im delighted that we have got a really good group of people together to take this forward. The project is one of the priorities identified in the Annan Masterplan and its something we believe in. We want to consult the community at every stage, on the location and the equipment.
