A CONSERVATION charity has launched a competition for visitors to show off their artistic talents.
WWT Caerlaverock is asking people of all ages to create their own wildlife and wetlands watercolour scene when they visit the centre this summer.
The competition is part of WWT Caerlaverock’s Drawn to Water partnership and highlights the connection between art and nature.
Contestants have been encouraged to seek inspiration from the cartoonist and illustrator Quentin Blake.
Anna Barlow, visitor experience officer at WWT Caerlaverock, said: “We hope people will be inspired by the Drawn to Water trail, with a selection of frame installations offering various viewpoints to see the reserve from different perspectives.
“The site looks incredible during the height of summer and I’m sure creative minds will find the place perfect for them to recreate in watercolour for the competition.”
There are also Drawn to Water workshops on Wednesdays and weekends where participants can find materials to produce their artwork.
The competition has two age groups – one for ages 11 and under and another for ages 12 plus. It is open until September 3. The winners from each group will receive a specially selected Quentin Blake prize.
