A DRAMATIC art exhibition is to be staged in Moffat, for one day only next month.
The event at the town hall will feature nine supersize paintings by resident Anthony Burns, a graduate of Glasgow School of Art and the Slade School of Fine Art.
It’s the first time the artwork will be displayed all together in one place
as they were intended. As a series, it aims to be thought-provoking with connections and links between the paintings, which are rich in detail and colour.
The show, titled The Fish Cycle (An Entertainment), has been a while in the making but Anthony says it will be worth the wait and describes it as “an installation to savour that stays in the mind long after a viewing.”
Explaining his inspirations, he said: “I paint from memory, fantasy, dreams, humanity and humour, often related to my past experiences of Glasgow. I create narrative threads that inform paintings in series or cycles. These cycles directly link the paintings both visually and conceptually with the aim of seducing and entertaining the viewer.
“I indulge in the all-consuming joyous activity of painting on a daily basis.”
None of the paintings will be for sale, the show is purely for enjoyment and is being billed as a celebration of art.
The organisers are hoping residents will turn out in large numbers to see it for themselves.

It takes place on Wednesday October 11, running all day with free entry. Anthony himself will host a private view at 7 pm that night to chat about the work. All welcome.
