GRAVESTONES will be the focus of a talk at Annan Museum next week.
Gerry Robertson, photographer and researcher, will share his insights into the gravestones of Dumfries and Galloway at the ‘Memento Mori’ event on Wednesday night.
He has spent years visiting the graveyards of the region, capturing beautiful and evocative photographs of these resting places.
And his fully illustrated talk will include a look at types of stones including enclosures and mausoleums; an exploration of the development of gravestones; examples of different types of sculpture; oddities and legends found in cemeteries; typography and symbols.
The evening will also include a special look at Annan Museum’s latest exhibition, ‘Dead and the Undead in Annan: vampires, bodysnatching and more.’
