Annan and Eskdale

CHARITIES and community groups in Annandale and Eskdale are being urged to apply to the Crossdykes Community Benefit Fund before the next deadline.

The cut off for the forthcoming round of grants is Friday October 27.

And applications are invited now from organisations in the five community council areas of Langholm, Ewes and Westerkirk, Lockerbie and District, Middlebie and Waterbeck, Eskdalemuir, and North Milk.

The Crossdykes Community Benefit Fund launched in September 2022 and is linked to the windfarm of the same name near Tundergarth.

In its first year it has so far distributed over £500,000 in awards across the area, including £18,800 to Xcel Youth Trust to establish a sensory room to provide new play and learning opportunities for children with disabilities and additional support needs; £30,000 to D&G HandyVan towards the purchase of a hybrid van to enable staff to travel to carry out repairs and improvements in the houses of vulnerable residents; and £15,000 to St Mungo Bowling Cub towards the cost of constructing and fitting out a new clubhouse for use by players, visitors and the wider community.

The company’s board of volunteer directors make funding decisions, with assistance from Foundation Scotland, a national grant making charity.

Chairman Nicholas Jennings said: “As we enter our second year of grant making, we look forward to seeing more bids for innovative and creative projects that will benefit our communities in many different ways.”

More information can be found at www.ccbf.org.uk and an online application form is available from www.foundationscotland.org.uk/apply-for-funding/funding-available/crossdykes.
