HOUSE prices in Dumfries and Galloway are on average £31,000 cheaper than elsewhere in Scotland.
The average home in Dumfries and Galloway cost £163,039 in the 12 months to August, according to new data from the Land Registry.
That’s up one percent from July, however it’s a 2.3 percent drop from the same period last year.
Meanwhile, the average home in Scotland cost £194,156 in the 12 months to August – £31,117 more than the average property here.
Now sitting 24th out of the 32 council areas for house price valuations, Dumfries and Galloway is one of the least expensive places to buy a home in Scotland.
The only cheaper places to buy a house in Scotland, on average, are: Renfrewshire (£155,828), Dundee (£151,945), City of Aberdeen (£141,119), North Lanarkshire (£139,569), West Dunbartonshire (£134,682), Inverclyde (£129,373), North Ayrshire (£126,663), East Ayrshire (£123,571).
Meanwhile, the top five regions for most expensive house prices are: East Lothian (£336,885), Edinburgh (£335,815), East Renfrewshire (£286,227), East Dunbartonshire (£267,046), and Stirling (£246,817).
Average UK house prices increased by 0.2 per cent in the 12 months to August 2023.
