MOFFAT residents are invited to attend a public debate about two proposed windfarm developments next Wednesday.
The meeting is being organised and chaired by Moffat and District Community Council (MDCC) to gauge the views of the community at large about additional windfarms in the hills surrounding the town.
Presentations will be given by developers Community Wind Power Ltd who are proposing the creation and installation of 75 turbines at Scoop Hill. Also attending will be Belltown Power UK who are advocating for their development of 29 turbines at Rivox.
Additionally, environmental community group Save Our Hills Moffat will deliver a presentation in opposition of the proposed developments. Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask the speakers questions.
MDCC are encouraging as many people as possible to attend the meeting at Upper Annandale Parish Church from 7 pm onwards, as secretary Mick Barker said: “We have been granted extensions for the community consultations from the Scottish Government and Dumfries and Galloway Council. This meeting is us taking full advantage of the opportunity to capture the views of the town, and this is probably the last chance for the community to have their say before decisions are made.
“We would like there to be a large turnout because of the possible impact on the town. And we as a community council are here to represent the views of the people of Moffat, so we’d like them to come and have their say.”
