Positive feedback on 20 zone

THE new 20mph speed limit across Annan has been generally well-received, according to feedback to community councillors.

It has nearly been a month since the controversial blanket speed limit was introduced to the town. And community councillor Simon Dix this week revealed he’s only received positive comments about it.

He added: “There’s nothing negative been said to me other than the crash with the new bollard near Galabank. I think once everyone gets used to it and adjusts to it, it’ll be fine.”

Fellow community councillor James Thorburn agreed and added: “Yeah, it’s the same where we stay – it’s only been positive comments about the 20mph. Newington Avenue has been quite bad for drivers flying up and down the street but now it’s much better.”

Meanwhile, parking on double yellow lines at Charles Street was also brought up with Mr Thorburn insisting “it’s an accident waiting to happen”.
