Parks project gets final go ahead

IT’S finally full steam ahead for the revamp of Lockerbie’s parks.

Members of the town’s Common Good sub committee on Tuesday night agreed the elements which will be included in the £500,000 project.

Their recommendations were based on the latest consultation carried out by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

And it means that McJerrow Park is in line to get an outdoor gym, sand and water play feature, event space and new toilets.

At King Edward’s Park, the multi-use games area (MUGA) will be refreshed at a cost of £20,000 and a pump track will be installed.

It’s all being funded by the last of the Lockerbie Trust money.

Work will be overseen by Dumfries and Galloway Council and is expected to start shortly.

Speaking at this week’s meeting, Annandale North councillor Gail Macgregor said: “I would like to thank the officials for the consultation and the work they have put into bringing this back to us and ensuring what we are doing is solid.”
