THE Motorsport News British Historic Road Rally Championship starts in Cheshire this weekend.
And a Dumfriesshire couple will be flying the flag for Scotland.
George Topp, navigated by his wife Rosalind, starts car 59 on The Tour of Cheshire in their 1966 Volvo Amazon 132S.
The Gretna couple have just returned from taking part in the world’s oldest rally, the Monte Carlo Historique Rallye, joining those electing to start from Glasgow, the 100th anniversary of that city as one of the starting points.
More than 250 crews from around the world tackled this year’s iconic event, with starting points in Glasgow, Reims, Bad Homburg and Milano.
Apart from silver finishers medals they returned with several awards from the Touristique category to add to trophies won during their rally 2023 season.
Also competing, and in the main tough category, also in a Volvo Amazon, were Neil Oliver from Castle Douglas and co-driver Alistair Gair, Lockerbie.
They finished 192nd in their first attempt at one of the world’s toughest road rallies.
