First Minister in the region

VISITS to Moffat and Dumfries were on the agenda for Scotland’s First Minister, Humza Yousaf, today.

He was at Moffat Academy this morning to launch a new framework to help schools nationwide tackle gender based violence.

Pupils and staff sat down with him for a discussion and Mr Yousaf also enjoyed seeing the library and meeting the school’s wellbeing dog Barney.

And he checked out the latest copy of the Moffat News while he was there and spoke to editor Fiona Reid – their chat will feature in this week’s newspaper.

Then it was on to Dumfries to meet members of the region’s Chamber of Commerce to discuss business matters.

See this week’s paper for full report.
