An unbeaten March has put The Black and Golds in a great position heading into the final five fixtures.
They are only three points behind Stirling Albion and Queen of the South, who occupy eighth and seventh in the table respectively.
Athletic manager Peter Murphy said: “We’ve had a good month going unbeaten. I think there was a couple of draws where we feel that we could have picked up wins if we had just been that little bit more ruthless, but that’s being very picky.
“From where we’ve been, for the players to pick up so many points in March was great.
“We have a very difficult April ahead of us but it is all looking very close at the bottom of the table with ourselves, Queen of the South and Stirling. Kelty Hearts are just that little bit outside of it.”
Tomorrow afternoon Hamilton Accies visit Galabank.
The teams last met in February in South Lanarkshire where Athletic triumphed 3-2.
Murphy added: “We’re very confident going into the game having been unbeaten in March.
“They’ve had a good March themselves. Albeit they drew with Queens in their last game, but they won all their others. They’re a very strong outfit.
“From our point of view, we just have to keep playing as well as we can and picking up as many points as we can.
“Everybody is working really hard and working together. The games that we’ve won and drawn, we didn’t dominate for all of those.
“We still had to defend for our lives, and the fact that the players are doing that gives us the chance to go up the other end and score a goal.
“Jack Heraghty came in when Greg Fleming got injured and he did really well.
“I think that helped Greg and lifted his game a little bit, he’s been excellent in the last few weeks.
“Without singling anybody else out, each player is doing really well at the minute.”
Benji Luissint and Lewis Hunter are both doubts for tomorrow afternoon, while the manager hopes Wullie Gibson and Steven Swinglehurst, who are both carrying niggles, will be fit for the match.
Annan entertain Hamilton at Galabank this Saturday in SPFL League One. Kick off is at 3 pm.
